Immediately we learn she’s not so normal because she emits shadow fire at a demon thing who shows up to kill her at breakfast as she’s trying to wrangle her siblings out the door. You’ve got Evie, a seemingly normal girl who’s been summoned back to her home by the authorities because her parents are missing. Unless this series takes a major turn I don’t think this one will stick.
